The Foundation funded its first program in 2002. The smoking cessation project was a
collaborative effort with more than 300 physicians and the state's seven health districts.
Using monies from Idaho's Tobacco Master Settlement and the Millennium Fund, physicians
could direct their smoking patients to tobacco cessation educators, along with a
pharmaceutical aid -- knowing that the combination of the medication along with behavioral
modification has the highest success rate for quitting smoking. |
